Altar Bread Distribution Ministry
Beginning with the establishment of the Novitiate in 1930, the Franciscan Handmaids of Mary began making and distributing altar bread.
Today, the Sisters distribute altar bread to churches and religious organizations in Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, upstate New York, and New Jersey.
The altar bread is shipped, picked up or delivered (Staten Island only) from our office on a regular basis. Proceeds from the sale of the altar bread help support the Congregation’s ministries.
